Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 25, 2026

This page explains, in plain words, what happens to your information when you use YouTube to MP4 to save a video or audio file. The short version: we collect very little, and we keep even less.

Overview

YouTube to MP4 is a free tool that lets you paste a YouTube link and save that video as an MP4 or its audio as an MP3. Many people use it to keep a recipe, a workout or a lesson on hand for when they are offline. To do that job, the site doesn't need to know who you are, so it doesn't ask.

This policy covers the website and its pages, including the MP4 downloader on the home page, the MP3 page and the contact form. It does not cover YouTube itself or any other website you visit.

What we do not collect

Some things are simply never part of how the site works. We think it helps to list them clearly.

  • No account: there is no sign-up, no login and no password, so we hold no profile about you.
  • No stored files: the site hosts no videos or audio files. Nothing you save passes through storage on our side.
  • No download history: we keep no record of which videos you looked up or which quality you picked.
  • No payment details: the tool is free, so we never ask for card or bank information.

The video link you paste

When you paste a YouTube link and tap the button, the link is sent so the tool can look up that video live and show you its title, length and available qualities. That lookup is the only thing the link is used for.

The link is used once, for your request, and is not saved afterward. The same goes for the video details and download links that appear on your screen: they are fetched fresh for each visitor and never stored. When you tap a quality, the file opens in a new browser tab directly from YouTube's video servers.

Information collected automatically

Like nearly every website, ours runs on infrastructure that keeps standard technical logs. Our host, Cloudflare, records basic details whenever a browser connects to the site.

  • Your IP address
  • Your browser type and device information
  • The date and time of the request
  • The page that was requested

How those technical logs are used

This information is used to keep the site secure and working properly, for example to block abusive traffic, stop automated attacks and spot technical problems. Cloudflare may also set small security cookies that help tell real visitors apart from bots. We do not use these logs to build a picture of you or to track what you download.

Google Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used in general: roughly how many visits it gets, which pages are opened and what kinds of devices people use. These statistics are anonymous and help us keep the tool simple and useful. Google Analytics relies on cookies, which are small text files stored in your browser.

You stay in control of cookies. You can refuse or delete them at any time in your browser settings, and most browsers also let you block cookies from specific sites. Google offers a free browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics on every website. The downloader will still work if you block analytics cookies.

Messages sent through the contact form

If you write to us through the Contact page, we receive the details you choose to include, such as your name, your reply address and your message. We use this only to read and answer your message. We don't add you to mailing lists, and we don't sell or share your message for marketing. Messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your question.

Third-party services

A few outside services are involved in running the site. Each one handles data under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to read.

  • YouTube and Google: the source of the videos. Video details come from YouTube, and the files you save open directly from YouTube's servers, so your browser connects to Google when you download.
  • Cloudflare: hosting and security for the website, including the technical logs described above.
  • Google Analytics: anonymous visit statistics based on cookies.

Children

The site is a general tool and is not directed at children under 13. Parents often use it to save kids' shows for a car trip, which is fine, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal details through the contact form, let us know and we will delete them.

Data security

Because we store so little, there is very little that could be exposed. The site is served over a secure, encrypted connection, and Cloudflare provides protection against common attacks. No method of sending or storing data online is perfect, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we do handle.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. Since we hold almost none, most requests will be simple to answer, but you are always welcome to make one.

  • Access: ask what personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: ask us to fix information that is wrong.
  • Deletion: ask us to erase information we hold, such as a past message.
  • Objection: object to how your information is used.

How to make a request and changes to this policy

To use any of these rights, send your request through the Contact page and tell us what you would like us to do. We will reply as soon as we reasonably can.

We may update this policy if the site changes or if the law requires it. When we do, the new version will be posted on this page, so it is worth checking back now and then. Continuing to use the site after an update means the revised policy applies.

If you have any questions about this policy or your data, please reach out through our Contact page and we will be glad to help.
