A practical MP4 downloader for everyday life
Most of the videos worth saving aren't viral clips. They're the knitting tutorial you pause every few seconds, the bread recipe you follow with flour on your hands, the morning workout you do in a basement with no signal, or the cartoon that keeps a toddler calm on a long drive.
That's who we had in mind when we made this YouTube to MP4 tool. It's built for parents, students, home cooks, teachers and anyone who wants a lesson or show ready to play on a plane, a train or a patchy hotel connection. If you only need the sound, such as a recorded lecture or a guided meditation, the same tool can save it as MP3.
How our YouTube to MP4 converter works
You paste a YouTube link and tap the button. Regular watch links, short youtu.be links, Shorts, mobile links and YouTube Music links all work. The tool looks the video up live and shows you its title, length and the qualities you can choose from.
Tapping a quality opens the file in a new browser tab, straight from YouTube's video servers. On a phone it may simply start playing, so you save it from the browser menu or with a long-press. On a computer it either downloads or plays, and a right-click on the video gives you the save option.

What we promise: free, simple and private
The tool is free and needs no account, app or browser extension. It runs in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook. If a download won't start inside an app like Instagram or TikTok, opening the page in Chrome or Safari usually solves it.
We don't store your videos or your links. Video details are fetched fresh for each visit and never saved, the site hosts no files, and there's no download history tied to you. We do use Google Analytics and cookies to count visits anonymously, and Cloudflare handles hosting and security.
Being honest about the limits
Some videos can't be saved. Private, age-restricted, members-only, removed or region-blocked videos may not work, and live streams that are still running won't either. If you paste a playlist link, you'll get the single video in that link rather than the whole list. We'd rather tell you this up front than leave you guessing.
